What is microcement?

Also known as microcemento or micro concrete, microcement is a very fine cement coating mixed with ultra fine aggregates, water based liquid polymers, and powdered resin polymers. Microcement installation requires multiple layers in order to create a durable and seamless surface.

The Layers of Microcement

Microcement is not composed of only one layer of cement placed on top of a substrate. This illustration shows that microcement is made up of several layers: The fiber mesh, microcement base material, the main microcement material, the sealer, and the protective PU coat.

What are the layers of microcement?

The correct microcement application should have the following layers on top of the substrate: a fiber mesh, microcement base material, main microcement material, sealer, and protective PU coat.

Make sure these layers are present in your microcement project. An expert microcement applicator is needed to make this work since this entire coating is made by applying between three to four very thin coats, approximately 2 to 3 mm thick.
